Cyst Removal

INTRODUCTION

Procedures to the body that require a local anaesthetic, like fat transfer and chemical peels, have a much shorter recovery time. You will be conscious throughout the treatment, although you won’t be able to feel any pain. Your nerves have been instructed not to carry pain signals to your brain.

You will feel the injection the delivers the anaesthetic and some pressure in the numbed area while the procedure is being performed, but you shouldn’t be in too much discomfort. Feeling will return to the area that has been anaesthetised a few hours after surgery and it might tingle a bit as you experience increasing sensation.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  1. Local anaesthetic is used to prevent you from feeling pain during surgical procedures.
  2. The dosage used will be tailored to you and depend on your weight and age.
  3. You will receive the injection containing the anaesthetic and then, for 30 minutes, your surgeon will monitor you, to ensure the anaesthetic is working as it should.
  4. Once the anaesthetic is fully effective, the procedure can begin.

FAQs

The anaesthetic stops nerves sending messages of pain to the brain.

If your local anaesthetic is being injected, you will feel the scratch of the needle, but it only lasts for a few seconds. It takes the anaesthetic up to 30 minutes to become fully effective, then you will feel numb in the area targeted for the procedure.

You won’t be able to feel any pain. When incisions are made and the procedure is underway, you might feel a slight pressure in the area, but nothing more.
