ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  1. An incision is made around the areola in order for the excess fatty tissue to be removed.
  2. Once the tissue has been removed, the skin is sutured and bandages are applied.
  3. It may take a few weeks for the swelling and bruising to go down, but once it does, your chest will have a more desirable contour, that will give you confidence in your body.

FAQs

Liposuction is the best option for male breasts that are small or moderate and caused by excess fatty tissue. If the problem is actual breast tissue and there is a large amount of excess skin, then an excision would be more appropriate. Our team will be able to advise you on which method would be more appropriate for you. Sometimes a combination of both excision and liposuction is used to achieve the best result.

The procedure usually takes two hours to complete. When you are under the general anaesthetic, we will make a small incision under each nipple in order to remove the excess fat.

People who have experienced this procedure say they feel a similar sort of soreness to the one you get after a heavy workout, rather than pain.
You will wear a compression garment on the chest for six weeks to reduce swelling. We recommend that you don’t exercise strenuously for 3 to 4 weeks.

The usual risks associated with surgery apply; bleeding, bruising, wound infection, chest infection and DVT, as well as possible complications with the general anaesthetic. However, all of these conditions are unlikely to occur.

There will be some scarring, although we make incisions along the natural contours of the body, so they are easier to conceal. The scars will fade with time. Not subjecting your wound to excessive force will reduce the risk of poor scar formation.
